FAC 501

Tony Wilson, Joy Division, New Order, Peter Saville, The Hacienda, British dance culture as we know it are all linked in many ways that those who know the reason(s) why Peter Hook may (and of course, corollary to that, may not) be mourning for the loss of Tony Wilson who died on 10 Aug 07.

The Factory Records Catalogue number for Tony's coffin was FAC 501. The last ever catalogue number.

When they said I would have to pay £3,500 for the drugs each month, I thought where am I going to find the money? I'm the one person in this industry who famously has never made any money ... I used to say some people make money and some make history - which is very funny until you find you can't afford to keep yourself alive ... I've never paid for private healthcare because I'm a socialist. Now I find you can get tummy tucks and cosmetic surgery on the NHS but not the drugs I need to stay alive. It is a scandal

For the man who has given his life to the betterment of the lives of others.

Someone remembered that Hooky pointed at Wilson at Rob Gretton's memorial 'And You Forgotten' and said "Who's next? You! Nah, we all know it's fucking Tony Wilson don't we!?", thus everyone avoided Hooky's gaze. Hooky pointed out that the invite-only memorial was "pretty boring" compared to Rob's free-for-all. Others bemoaned the use of 'Atmosphere' when Wilson had wanted 'Ceremony'.
