Fashion Faux Pas - Part Deux
When it's a SAF Overseas Scholar who's been through Oxford education who doesn't know how to wear a proper french cuff shirt with cuff links.....you wonder how you should put it across to him.....
This is the correct way.
The ends of the cuff do not overlap. It can be quite a faux pas.
And when your wine glass is obviously more than 3/4 filled, there's no need to twirl the glass to get to the bouquet. And when it's a chinese wedding in a local hotel, there is no need to expect pinots or bordeaux cause it's usually one of these two; shiraz cabernet or cabernet sauvignon. Nevertheless, Australian Shiraz is enjoying alot of publicity because of the quality of the grapes as well as the drinkability, enjoyed by novice (like me), amateurs and connoisseurs. And when you've drank two full glasses of shiraz within 5 minutes of each other, there's no point in trying to swirl your third full glass while trying to tell people that you know your wine and can tell the difference between dry and fruity. Fuck man, it's dry and sweet. And yes, there is a subtle (some would say obvious) difference between a shiraz cab and a cab shiraz. The former is 80% shiraz, 20% cabs. Cab sauvignon is a single grape varietal and the reason why local weddings usually serve australian shiraz cabs is cause they are one of the wines that require the highest temperature to drink and it goes well with red meat and spicy food. Finally, for shiraz and syrah, yes they are the same.
I should get some Riedel for myself this christmas while I enjoy the bordeaux and australian shiraz cabs. And probably another glass for rieslings.
