From the teaser trailer I caught a month ago, it is not meant to be intellectual. All I heard in the trailer was the music, guns going off, screeching of car tires, clanging of metal and assorted "kung fu" sounds. No conversations. How cool.

I'm so touched that you dedicated a whole entry based on my blurb.. *awwww*...
the trailer is nothing but fighting scenes.. initially i was really wowed and thought i MUST catch the show based on the trailer. but 'initially' lasted all but 10 seconds before the whole kung fu thing got a little tiresome.
considering that if the best parts of the show has already been edited for the trailer, whats more to watch?
oh, btw, you've been watching quite a number of shows lately. i guess you would have come across royston tan's '881' trailer as well.
need to ask you something.. i haven't quite been able to figure this one out. in the trailer of '881', which is a representation of 'papaya', at the end of the trailer, this aunty says 'techno cat'. which brings a few chuckles from the audience.

anonymous (again! yawn!): you should still watch because it's one of the better films to showcase MMA - Mixed Martial Arts. So you'll get to see Brazilian Jujitsu, Muay Thai, Judo throws and holds.
881 doesn't represent "papaya". It's just that when said in mandarin, 881 is "ba ba yao" which sounds a little like papaya.
What is a "techno cat". Surely you have to watch the movie??
thats what i was thinking about as well.
maybe the whole lure of the movie is just putting out a phrase like "techno cat" to entice potential audiences to watch the movie, hoping to find out wth it really means.
i tried googling 'singapore slangs' 'ah beng speak' 'ge-tai'r'us' but to no avail. doesn't seem like anyone knows what 'techno cat' is really about..
its really getting quite bad, cos i'm peppering my speech with "chey.. techno cat" now, in hope by repeated saying it, would bring me closer to understanding what it might mean.
