Chasing Cars

Snow Patrol will be in Sydney, Seoul and Tokyo in July.

But nobody is bringing them to Singapore. Why.....

Chasing Cars

(Began in Parkgate in October 2005 and finished in Grouse Lodge in December 2005)
I wrote this song in Garret's garage in 2004. The minute the rest of the guys heard it they loved it. As did anyone I played it to. Do I hear a trumpet blowing? Excuse me. I'll just put it down. Better. Where were we?......
It was, however, the most difficult to get right, structurally more than anything. (For proof, note the protracted recording span). When we did nail it in Grouse Lodge, it was big smiles all round.
It's a song of joy, love and wasting time with someone you love (the finest pursuit). There is no knife twisting, as is my usual, nothing but a happy ending. Doesn't happen very often.
~ extracted from booklet

We'll do it all
Everything
On our own
We don't need
Anything
Or anyone

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me
And
Just forget the world.

I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel
Those three words
Are said too much
There're not enough.

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me
And
Just forget the world.
Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden
That's
Bursting into life

Let's waste time
Chasing cars,
Around our heads

I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me
And
Just forget the world

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden
That's
Bursting into life

All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes
They're all I can see

I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never
Change for us at all

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me
And
Just forget the world
