Silent Lucidity

This entry is a little dark and unintentionally obtuse.

Was in a friend's car this afternoon when this song started playing. It was his own compilation. Probably of classic rock songs.

Silent Lucidity - Queensryche.

This song won the highest award given by MTV Video Music Awards. MTV is driven by viewers hence the highest award ought not to be Best Video but Viewers' Choice. Best Video was Losing My Religion - REM.

I was asking what your Joy Division moment was.

Well, I could fictionalise my life. Add a dash of drama. Elevate (perhaps?) my awareness and fake a romanticised version of my past.

If I did. Here's how it might sound like.

My Joy Division moment would be the moment when I realise that there are qualities that I possess only when I am with others - those whom know only a facet of me. And these qualities are the ones that I am envious of. There is this struggle that takes place daily in all of us. The public front that is in plain view and there is the side shielded from sight. I am apologetic to those who have inadvertently strayed too close to me and see the cheer dim from my smile.

The sparkle lost from my eyes.

Tasted the vitriol spat from my mouth.

So as we sped through the rainy streets of Joo Chiat, the lyrics become more apparent to me.

Hush now don't you cry
Wipe away the teardrop from your eye
You're lying safe in bed
It was all a bad dream spinning in your head
Your mind tricked you to feel the pain
Of someone close to you leaving the game of life
So here it is another chance
Wide awake you face the day
Your dream is over or has it just begun

There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind
Commanding in another world
Suddenly you hear and see
This magic new dimension
I will be watching over you
I'm gonna help you see it though
I will protect you in the night
I'm smiling next to you in silent lucidity

If you open your mind for me
You won't rely on open eyes to see
The walls you build within come tumbling down
And a new world will begin
Living twice at once you learn
You're safe from pain in the dream domain
A soul set free to fly
A round trip journey in your head
Master of Illusion can you realize
Your dream's alive you can be the guide but
I will be watching over you
I'm gonna help you see it though
I will protect you in the night
I'm smiling next to you
