Initial thoughts on Transformers
AWESOME.
It's really an "All-American" movie. Well, kinda.
I can just imagine Americans gathering in the cinemas and cheering Optimus Prime and gang on.
The movie starts with a troop of soldiers talking. This guy starts yakking in Spanish but at the end of it they all can relate to an American way of life; watching sports (baseball) on a weekend, family and friends.
But really, I think when a group of guys get together, that's what they really talk about...sports.
There's this showcase of Third Generation SAF type of technology as well. Having troops with lasing devices providing targetting for the airboys to drop the package. Using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles to provide RSTA (recon, surveillance and target acquisition) and collectively managing the battlefield. But of course, the US have been using this since....
And yes, Barricade, Scorponok and Starscream's not dead. In fact, stay for another 2 minutes when the credits starts rolling, you get to see Starscream flying up into space. F22 Raptor. Not a F15 Eagle. Yeah...so Megatron is not a P38 but a...just what the hell is he? Bumblebee is just wrong though. Not a VW but a Chevy? But I'd pay to get a car that can play the right song at the right time though.
Oh oh, not only is there Linkin' Park at the end, more importantly, there is Smashing Pumpkins in the end with a new song. Doomsday Clock from their coming album Zeitgeist.
I'll be back....
