Urm... I heard them a few times when I was doing my reservist some years ago. At least, a few of us thought so. It's quite distinctive, though muffled. It's not a Cessna I think. Besides, one really sees amazing things in the skies of Singapore.
I recall seeing a Hughes NOTAR helicopter performing loops near the Sembawang area. I can't remember what the name of that stretch of the trees is anymore. (No, it's not Jalan Ulu Sembawang, maybe it is..) Anyway, that was spotted in 2002.
And one sees USAF F-15s, C-141s (Not C-5), C-130s (Grey camouflage, not our RSAF colours), F/A-18s and more in the skies often.
